Zadar is the perfect place to travel to if you’re a foodie as there is so much amazing food and so many beautiful restaurants with great prices, but it can be difficult to decide where to eat. I stayed in Zadar for 4 days and here is a list of my favourite restaurants in Zadar, as well as a few food stalls.
Konoba Rafelo
Konoba Rafelo is right next door to the Air BnB we stayed in, a few steps from the marina (WHICH ONE?). After reading the reviews on trip advisor and google, we had to try this place! We decided to share a combo platter between the two of us many of the reviews stated these were enough for 4 people. This consisted of 4 steaks, 2 pork steaks, fries, creamy mushroom sauce, and grilled Mediterranean vegetables, a huge portion which we struggled to finish! Not only was there a great amount of food, it was also delicious. We sat outside with a view of the marina. The prices here were amazing, for the combo platter, a litre of red wine, a coke, and a large bottle of water, we paid 512 HRK (£58) and it was absolutely worth it!
Bobis
Bobis is a small counter in Zadar, serving amazing pastries. We ordered chocolate croissants which were freshly made and still warm. This counter is close to the Church of Saint Donatus in Zadar Old Town. We paid 16 HRK (£1.80) for 2 chocolate filled croissants.
Restaurant Vale
If you are planning on fitting in a visit to the island Ugljan, restaurant vale is a beautiful restaurant right on the marina, around a 15 minute walk from the Preko ferry port. With lots of greenery in the seating area, Restaurant Vale is a very instagrammable spot! On the menu, there is a range of fish, meat, burgers, pizzas and pastas. We ordered a cheeseburger (which comes with fries), a margarita pizza, and two soft drinks. Service was fast, the food was delicious, and the view was beautiful. This meal came to 158 HRK (£18).
Surf n Fries
Surf n Fries was very busy each time we walked past it during our time in Zadar so we decided to give it a go. As we only wanted a small light lunch, we grabbed just a portion of fries, which were served quickly. These came in a come with 2 small tubs of sauce. The fries were good and a decent portion size. A large portion of fries cost us 33 HRK (£3.71). This is just a short walk from the Church of St. Donatus / the Roman Forum.
Famous Beach Bar and Grill
This bar/restaurant is right on the sea front, with the option to sit inside or outside, and is an amazing sunset spot. We arrived here at around 9:30pm and it was very busy. Famous serves pizzas, burgers, tortillas, salads, as well as a range of starters and sides. We ordered a pizza, chicken tortilla, onion rings, chicken wings, and fries, all of which were good quality and great tasting. The only criticism we had is the seating system. When we arrived at Famous and there was no seats available inside or outside, and when asking if there was a table available, we were told to stand around and wait for someone to leave. There was around 4/5 groups which came while we were waiting so you just have to be lucky to spot someone leaving and quickly grab the table in time! This meal cost us 273 HRK (£31) including a cocktail and a beer.
